Building a Zometool model of this Stellation of the Icosahedron, would require to put five green Zometool struts into the same pentagonal hole, as shown in the left side of the picture:
First, the troublesome struts are shortened somewhat. In this model, the hg4 struts are reduced to bg3’s (about 1/8 length reduction), see the middle part of the figure. Next a hub was designed (see vZome and Openscad files), with an input hole for each of the bg3 struts, and one tip to be put into the original connector of the hg4 strut, as shown on the right of the figure. The bg3 struts are Zometool ones, which were once mass produced. The model has here been built around a kernel with yellow and green struts. The yellow struts, with orbit length (1+3φ)/5, had to be 3D printed (see vZome and Openscad files). Also the green struts, with orbit length (2+φ)/10, had to be 3D printed (see vZome and Openscad files).
